Technical Leadership & Delivery

Bring me the objective. I’ll help work out the path and carry it through.

Your business may need a new platform, better connections between existing systems, or someone experienced to take charge of technology that has become difficult to manage.

I’m Michael Loeffler, founder of Main Street Web Developer. My 35+ years of experience include serving as CTO at a multinational company, helping smaller companies develop their systems, and leading substantial application and integration work.

I provide technical leadership with hands-on delivery—from understanding the problem and recommending an approach to building, launching, operating, and improving the solution. I can implement the work and coordinate additional specialists where needed.

01 / WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER

Plan & Deliver a Substantial Project

For businesses with an important objective and a need for someone to lead the technical work.

You might be creating a customer platform, replacing an aging application, connecting disconnected operations, or adding capabilities that your current systems cannot support.

You don’t need to arrive with all the technical answers. We start with the business objective, existing environment, constraints, and people who will use the system. I help define the approach and lead the agreed delivery.

What the engagement can include

  • Discovery, technical planning, and architecture.
  • Application and database development.
  • APIs and integrations with existing systems and third-party services.
  • Hosting, deployment, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Coordination with designers and other specialists.
  • Testing, launch planning, documentation, and handover.

The scope identifies the deliverables, dependencies, client responsibilities, and acceptance criteria. Where investigation is needed before implementation can be priced responsibly, we begin with a paid planning phase.

Investment

Initial projects typically range from $25,000–$50,000. Larger engagements are welcome. Clearly defined phases can be delivered at a fixed price.

A DEFINED FIRST ENGAGEMENT

Technical Assessment & Action Plan

Understand the situation. Decide what should happen next.

$5,000 fixed fee

Typically 10 business days after required access and information are available.

Before investing in substantial development or handing over an existing system, get a clear understanding of the work, risks, and practical options. I investigate the agreed environment and deliver a prioritized action plan you can use with me or another provider.

Defined coverage

One primary application or website, its supporting hosting and database, up to three integrations, and up to two critical workflows. Targeted inspection and representative checks within an agreed scope.

A usable action plan

System map, prioritized findings, recommended actions, important unknowns, implementation sequence, indicative investment ranges, and a recommended next engagement.

  • One 60-minute kickoff, up to two 30-minute staff or provider discussions, and one 60-minute findings meeting.
  • $2,500 reserves the engagement; $2,500 is due on delivery of the written findings.
  • One consolidated clarification and factual-correction round within five business days.
  • Investigation and recommendations only. Repairs, production changes, exhaustive testing, and compliance certification are outside this package.
  • A standalone engagement; the fee is not automatically credited toward implementation.

02 / WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER

Take Over & Improve Existing Systems

For businesses that need experienced technical ownership of an existing application or connected environment.

Perhaps the original developer is unavailable, recurring failures are disrupting work, or several providers are involved and the problems remain unresolved. You may have a functioning platform that needs stronger technical direction before its next stage of growth.

I begin by understanding what exists and how the business depends on it. Then I recommend and carry out an agreed sequence of improvements.

Start with a paid assessment

  • Application code, architecture, and scheduled processes.
  • Hosting, databases, access, and deployment arrangements.
  • Integrations and dependencies.
  • Reliability, performance, and security concerns.
  • Known problems, operational needs, and planned changes.

The assessment’s coverage and depth are agreed before work begins. You receive findings, priorities, and a proposed next phase with its scope, assumptions, and pricing approach.

The implementation phase may involve stabilizing the application, correcting data problems, improving infrastructure, repairing integrations, or expanding functionality. Where there is a continuing fit, the engagement can develop into an ongoing technical partnership.

Investment

The standard assessment is $5,000. Broader environments are scoped separately before work begins. Implementation is priced after investigation; the assessment fee is not automatically credited toward implementation.

03 / WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER

Ongoing Technical Partnership

For businesses that want an experienced technical lead who understands their systems and continues to deliver.

As your business evolves, someone needs to consider the technical implications, maintain the environment, and implement the next set of improvements.

I provide that continuity through an ongoing engagement with defined responsibilities and reserved monthly capacity.

What the partnership can cover

  • Technical recommendations and planning.
  • Application development and continuing improvements.
  • Management of agreed hosting, database, and integration environments.
  • Maintenance, monitoring, and investigation of technical issues.
  • Evaluation and coordination of third-party providers.
  • Planning for releases, migrations, and larger initiatives.
  • Documentation and administrative tools that make everyday operations easier.

The starting scope covers one primary application or website, its hosting and database, up to three named integrations, and directly related DNS, application email, and Cloudflare configuration where applicable. A paid onboarding assessment is normally required unless I already know the environment sufficiently.

Clear monthly boundaries

  • Up to two 30-minute meetings, written updates when work is active, and a monthly summary—all within the 20-hour capacity.
  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern, excluding U.S. federal holidays and communicated closures.
  • Initial response within two business days for routine requests; within four business hours for critical incidents through the designated channel. Response is acknowledgment and triage, not a guaranteed fix.
  • Usage flagged at approximately 75%. Additional work requires written approval; no automatic overages.
  • Up to four unused hours roll into the immediately following month only. Provider-side capacity shortfalls are credited or rescheduled by agreement.
  • Third-party costs are separate. Unlimited support, general help-desk service, and after-hours coverage are not included.

Larger projects can be scoped separately. Additional capacity and after-hours coverage, where available, require an explicit agreement.

For an unfamiliar environment, a paid onboarding assessment may be required before ongoing responsibilities are agreed.

Investment

The starting partnership is $5,000 per month for up to 20 hours of technical capacity, including meetings, correspondence, investigation, and implementation. Three-month initial term; then month-to-month with 30 days’ written notice. Fees are paid in advance.

The breadth to follow the whole problem

My work spans applications, infrastructure, integrations, and operations. That lets me investigate issues across systems and deliver changes that account for the surrounding environment.

  • Custom applications, customer portals, and administrative systems.
  • API development and integration with third-party APIs.
  • WordPress connected to custom applications and external services.
  • Payments, subscriptions, ecommerce, messaging, phone services, and webhooks.
  • Hosting, DNS, domains, email configuration, and Cloudflare.
  • PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Application and infrastructure security, troubleshooting, and performance improvements.
  • Practical AI integrations and workflow automation.

Graphic design and other specialist work can be coordinated as part of an agreed project.

Technical Engagement Policies · Version 1.0

Published October 26, 2026. Your written engagement confirms the applicable version and any agreed exceptions.

Clear responsibility keeps the work moving

Business direction from you. Technical leadership from me.

You provide the business goals, priorities, budget, and operating requirements. I recommend the technical approach and make implementation decisions within the authority we agree. Business policies and material changes to cost, scope, or customer experience require your approval. I’ll explain the relevant tradeoffs so you can make an informed decision.

Focused communication

Routine updates are handled in writing. Meetings have an agenda, a time limit, and a purpose: resolving a blocker, making a decision, or agreeing on priorities. Each engagement needs an accountable client contact who can consolidate feedback and obtain decisions from the right people. Workshops and additional meetings are planned within the engagement’s capacity.

Defined scope and realistic scheduling

We agree on what is included, what depends on your team or outside providers, and how changes are approved. Client inputs and approvals have agreed dates. Delays can move the delivery schedule; a paused engagement resumes according to available capacity.

Systems your business can operate

Where practical, I build administrative tools, automation, and documentation so routine work can be handled by the appropriate people. That keeps specialist attention available for the work that needs it.

Is this a good fit?

These engagements are designed for established businesses and funded initiatives with substantial technical needs. They work best when you want experienced guidance and implementation, have an accountable decision-maker, and can fund the scope and capacity required.

Routine content edits, standalone graphic design, and isolated WordPress tuning to meet a predetermined performance score are outside the focus of these services.

Let’s discuss the work ahead

Tell me what your business needs to accomplish, what systems are involved today, what is creating difficulty or limiting progress, and your intended timing and investment range. We’ll determine whether there is a fit and identify the right starting engagement.

Substantial projects typically start at $25,000. Ongoing technical partnerships start at $5,000 per month.
